Merry Christmas and a happy new year without any New Year's Resolutions;-)

Seasonal Greetings to you and your family. So Wolfgang, do I understand correctly your resolution is to have no "New Year's Resolutions" - LOL - tautology !

Seems to me now, that resolutions have a hidden survival mechanism.

Seems to me that my whole life has become a resolution, lol!

Well said , Me . That means that we now have an absolute duty to cheer each other up --- for some of us this will be a more difficult task than for others .Wolfgang , I fear , a bit of work to do in this area ! Let's start with the name ~~ Wolfgang ~~ it's a bit of a fierce sounding name isn't it ? Could you perhaps think of a softer sounding name -- one that brings a immediate smile to the face . Uncle Tim offers a very good example -- who can not like Uncle Tim ? What about Tommy ? That would be good ; notice how the ' y ' softens the sound . Larry too is a happy name and , though Larry is clearly a really bad tempered and angry person , the fact that he's called Larry sort of softens the overall effect .
David is quite a nice name but Robin would be better --- Robin Ruben now there's a happy sounding name ; I'm smiling already . D.N.H. ? I don't know where to start here --- Danny , perhaps ? Me is a bit cheeky and elfish which are lively and happy characteristics to share with others. Now who else needs a name lift ? Oh yes ,there's Xeno! What on earth can we do about that ? Help !!

Tommy..., what a great idea. Imagine the soup tureen on my bald head. Hunny wouldn't be any better.

Trevor said...

You're right , Wolfgang ; perhaps Tommy might not have been the best recommendation I've ever made . Hunny is funny but grossly insensitive. What about Freddie ?

wolfgang said...

Freddie...? Trevor, you seem to me a master of domestication! Let's breathe some wilderness! I will call myself 'Mercury'(Dieses Ganze ist nur für einen Gott gemacht...) und I will call you 'Mephisto'(Allwissend bin ich nicht, doch viel ist mir bewusst...).

Trevor said...

Very ambitious , Wolfgang . You're quite right my name lifts tend to be a bit domestic but , at least they're warm and friendly . Yours on the other hand are dramatic but a little disturbing : Mercury I can understand for you -- I've always thought there was something slippery about you ! Do you know what I mean , attractive in a shiny ,glossy sort of way but .......... Slippery ! As for me , where on earth did Mephisto come from ? There are only two Mephisto's that Iam aware of : one is a department store in France and the other is as an abbreviated for Mephistopheles to whom Faust sells his soul ! By the way I think we may have to change Larry's name to Snowy ! If you're reading this , Larry , I hope you're OK .

Doing fine, TY. :)

Mercury

To the light out from the deep
awakened from an endless sleep

silver shine in glorious ray
with this shine I will betray

always moving, running, flowing
slipping, slapping, shrinking, growing

try to grasp me - you will fail,
dripping from your finger nail

underneath and on the top,
call me 'Flip' or call me 'Flop'!

always moving, running, flowing
slipping, slapping, shrinking, growing

maybe, I'm a fluid masque,
having no sense, having no task

maybe, I'm a metal slime,
maybe, I'm a gipsy rhyme

always moving, running, flowing,
slipping, slapping, shrinking, growing

maybe I'm a modern soul,
maybe I'm the devil's hole

sometimes here and sometimes there,
on the road and on the square

always moving, running, flowing,
slipping, slapping, shrinking, growing

breathe me in, breathe me in!
and you'll forget your deed and sin

thinking flat and thinking plain
in the end you'll get insane

always moving, running, flowing,
slipping, slapping, shrinking, growing

under impact I'll be torn
immaculate I'll be reborn

under impact I'll be torn
eternally I'll be reborn

I take my hat of to you Wolfgang aka Mercury . This is very impressive : it reveals a very good grasp of language , rhythm and rhyme and , above all , it suggests that you have a very good ear . Well done !
