Progress...

Hello everyone. :D

I though I'd just do a blog post before I go out driving. I'm a bit scared at the mo because my teacher says that I'm ready for my test. :-S It's a scary thought for me...and probably for other drivers too. :-S

So today we're doing a mock test to give me an idea of how I'd get on in a real test. Uh ooooh! Bit scared.

On the music front, my album sales appear to be going well. :D I finished my first box yesterday. (I got 10 boxes in total... ;)) I'll be publicising it a bit more over the next few days and will probably be putting a video on YouTube about it. :)

Other YouTubey things......Darren Smith and I have created another trancey tune. (Sorry TV! I know you love it really! :P) and I hope to be making a video for that one shortly. (As soon I have an idea.)

Also...my gorgeous choir have a little performance opportunity coming up shortly so we're preparing for that at the mo. On Friday we sang Zombie by The Cranberries. They're really quick at picking things up. I actually recorded a take of Zombie on my laptop - the quality isn't great, and the door opens and closes a few times and makes a funny sticky noise, but you can still hear their uber cool singing. :) I'll try to upload the audio track to show you when I come back from driving. :)

TTFN,

Hollyxx

You will be just fine with the driving. Enjoy it! That is what life is all about - enjoying all the things that come along, being thankful for the good ones and finding great faith to get through the 'others', lol. Have a wonderful day!

BTW, I do know about those extraneous sounds in YT videos too. One time I made one with classical piano when I was new to using Audacity and, in the meantime, I played a bit of 'Oily Woit'. It was funny when I finished the video for there in the middle, you were in it saying, 'I've got me gloves on', LOL!

YAAAA!!!! Some of my order arrived (CDs) so, now I am among the elite! Yep. I HAVE A CD NOW! Actually, I will be waiting for 'mine' though. It is somewhere on its trip across the pond yet, lol.

Hope the driving was fun. Looking forward to hearing the new trance tune!

You'll have to hurry up and pass the test. With all this warm weather the parents will be needing you to drive them back from the pub in the evening.
Good news about the album sales.

I hope the test run for the test wasn't as testing as you might have thought.I don't know about Larry or Xeno but it took me three goes to pass my Driving Test. The fact I could pass exams but not pass my Driving Test really got to me at the time.Ludicrous,I know, but I sort of took it personally -- the world and his dog must be against me sort of thing. However, it taught me to depersonalise a little more (though I still have a problem with this) and simply to get back in the saddle - driver's seat that is, - and try again. And then with success,of course, great euphoria !Following which....car expenses,Argh!
Looking forward to hearing the choir...Zombies,what a challenge !

Don't know about xeno, Trev, but my dad had me driving when I had to sit between his legs. Before I can even remember, I was steering on those old mountain roads. When I could reach the pedals, it was all over and, I got my license on my 15th birthday! 'The times, they are a changin'' though, lol.

Those were the days,Larry -- today your dad would be put in jail for contravening all manner of Health and Safety rules and regulations, and you would probably be put in care for your own safety !

Aren't we in jail right now?

The original version: "you all know security / Is mortals' chiefest enemy."

Trev, we did not have jails. Nor police. Not even paved roads. I am talking Appalachian here, lol, back years ago!

Perhaps Holly might be better off if she took her Test in some small town in the Appalachian Mountains,Larry ?
I'm with you on this,Wolfgang -- society too often has a Kafkaesque quality that once we would have thought unimaginable or surreal.
I am minded of Benjamin Franklin : 'Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety,'

I did my first driving on a motor bike (still got one). For the test I had to ride round a big city square and then do an emergency stop when the tester held his hand up as I went towards him. I think they have made it a bit tougher since then. I took the car test while it was snowing and remember having to wind the window down (with a window winder) to do hand signals.
As for health and safety ~ my dad used to drive the car with us kids standing on the passenger seat looking out of the sunshine roof.

This blog is so educational. I never knew Shakespeare wrote in German too.

And since we are all doing freedom quotes
"Tis better to be dead and in our graves / Than live in slavery as slaves".

Holly you had better do your test before the tourist season starts and there's another car on the IoW.

Brilliant story, Xeno ! Can you imagine what the poor guy with the clipboard felt every Monday morning ?
I'd forgotten all about the hand signals. Arm straight out for turn right, arm circling anti clockwise for turn left ? My first car was a second hand Baby Austin van and the handbook that was given to me clearly showed that windscreen wipers were an optional extra !

My first car was a Vauxhall Viva mk 1. Once when I changed gear the gear leaver came out of the floor. That was quite interesting.

Larry said...

xemo, LOL, you just gave me a huge laughing spell with that gear leaver story! Almost squirted morning coffee all over the monitor, lol! :)

Trevor said...

The sad thing is that the gear lever was the best engineered bit of the car!

Larry said...

Now that *is* sad, lol!

FYI I just Googled Holly Kirby and I got Kirby Services &Supplies,Kirby Parts & Accessories and ,best of all, Reconditioned Kirby's --- I want one of those for Christmas :)

Larry said...

Good luck on that, Trev!

Maybe Holly needs a Kirby (vacuum cleaner). Great for picking up dead spiders.
