It's all in the mind...

Hi everyone... :)

So - I managed to upload it! Here's a quick link for anyone who wants to see the vid from here...

At last! Lol. Next for an original I guess. (Fingers crossed)

I'm going to try to explain a comment I made the other day on the comments section here - saying that 'the problem is in my mind' (or something like that)...

When it's been ages, and I'm due to put on another video - suddenly I panic, and nothing I do seems to turn out right. Even if other people think what I've done sounds fine, I can never properly hear that - making it really hard to hear what's good and what's not.

On Saturday when I was trying and failing to do 'Warmer in May' - everything seemed to 'not sound right' - and I think that that was maybe (probably) something to do with going to the studio. Now that I've been there and have heard what my songs can actually sound like (all professionally recorded/mixed etc.) it feels like my brain won't settle for any less....which is a bit of a pain in the bum really! - As I really don't have the skills that Gareth and Olli do.

Anyhow, I shall persevere...maybe the key is to leave less time between each video. Easier said than done though. :-S

You are doing just fine, Holly. Please cut yourself a little slack and realize that everything in life is a learning experience and, that means 'change'. It is human nature to resist change too. However, it will always be a constant (change). I feel that one of the greatest keys to happiness and success is being able to accept and make the most of all the changes we are dealt in life that are beyond our control. They all bring new opportunities to expand our awareness. :)

H. That video was superb and I said as much on YT. Made me feel quite emotional which is a feat. Your range is astonishing. Enya, Joni Mitchell, Fisher, Sting (Eva Cassidy) not to mention the Holly Kirby originals which still are my favourites. I would love to hear Enya do Carey or Joni sing Evening Falls. I doubt they could do nearly as well as you do. I agree with Larry, again (oh he’s so wise), when he says “You are doing fine”. Actually better than fine. Your YT videos are better than anyone else I have seen on YT who does their own rather than having zillions to spend on an army of techies. Not only is the sound good but the production values of the videos are excellent too. And at the end of the day the big professional productions are not actually better, some of them are just a bit more sumptuous. And as for the sound quality, it’s great for the medium. YT is never going to rival studio CD sound, at least not with the current bandwidth most of us get. I know what you mean about hearing the studio produced sound. The studio Impossible is richer than the original YT one, but only because I am playing it through a decent sound system rather than what passes for speakers on a PC.
Don’t knock yourself out because you don’t have a Gareth and Olli team available all the time. Given time I am sure you will.
And the count for views has gone up by 21 since I have been typing this but then I did have a crafty look at your Cary again – Mmmmm!

Well I LOVE IT!

And I'm sure Warmer in May sounds fab too.

You are working so hard with all the album artwork and now trying to do songs for YT too. What you need is a nice break. How about a relaxing meal out with your big old sister. Or a weekend in Dublin ;-)

Great idea, Sis! That poor girl needs a break!

Weekend in Dublin! You could scout out some venues for your Enya tour in the summer, and develop a taste for Guinness.

Dublin is great, I was there in June last year. When the storms are over, it could be a lovely place, even in winter.
My special recommendation is Sligo: Mythical landscape, mild weather, the ocean.... To Ireland I'll away :)

Just popping in to see what's happening and to feed those fish of yours. I understand what you are saying Holly, I honestly do. When I was doing motivational speaking and on the radio I would have to write something and then began to 'pressure' myself and then everything seemed too 'ordinary' - though we are our worst critic. I cannot get back into my letter writing just now - had a break and do you think I can write a letter about Buddhist philosophy - I keep putting it off, re-trying and it all seems wrong or doesn't flow or is not inspiring enough. See even when you are 41 these things happen. The video was fantastic, thanks so so so much, you made Spoggy very happy, he attacked the earphones when I didn't have it turned up loud, and I caught it on video LOL - if you are singing he has to hear it thank you very much and will pull the earphones off my ear if I don't LOL - love and hugs

Holly, just wanted to say that I hope you have a great time at The Fountain Inn tomorrow! Since I cannot be there, I will just have to imagine you there with Nick and, you guys are having a ball. I see you 'letting your hair down' (as we say here), hanging real loose, laughing a lot and, showing everyone your beautiful smile! Have lots of fun!
